Playing LotRO reminded me of this album... I bought it when it came out, but, like all things, it eventually lay forgotten in a shelf.
And like all things, it came back to memory. Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle-earth. Many consider it their masterpiece & it did give them an enormous boost in popularity back in the late '90s.
it still holds very well today, although the production sounds dated. '90s dated. I mean, we have stuff from the '70s & '80s that doesn't sound as dated as this crap. it's like the friggin' Seinfeld of music. What were they thinking???
In all seriousness, despite the '90s production, it's a VERY good album, based on The Silmarillion. That alone should encourage you to give it a listen. Not to mention the kickarse vocals & instrumental mastery. Blind Guardian rules!
Here's the first song (Into the Storm) , after the intro. By the way, the guy that does Morgoth in the spoken passages nails it like I'd nail Stephanie Swift before she went nun. PERFECTLY & with gusto.

I ALWAYS have music like this on while playing anything on my pc. I found it helps bossfights and epic fights in the moors become even more epic, while also helping me not to rage like hell when I get totally pwned. lol
